Close-Quarters Combat Mindset
Understanding combat mindset is crucial to continued existence. The vast majority of civilian conflicts occur at very close range, many at arm’s length. Training to recognize a threat and initiate action in time can provide the slightest advantage that might mean survival. Presentation from Holster Drills Training to draw from concealment: orientation to the threat, forming a grip on the firearm, drawing from holster, completing the two-handed grip, extending arms to full presentation, and engaging the target. Point Shooting Drills Training to index over the top of the gun when tunnel vision draws focus away from a deliberate sight picture and downrange to the source of danger. Index Shooting Drills Training to engage multiple threats, taking into account distance to threat, available cover, and size, abilities, and actions of those threats. Shooting Position Drills Training in various shooting positions: low-ready, kneeling, prone, seated, supine, strong-hand, support-hand. Shooting from Cover Drills Training to instinctively seek cover while drawing or firing, and training to effectively engage threats from over and around cover and concealment. Turn and Shoot Drills Training to turn 90 and 180 degrees while drawing, and training to turn after drawing. Move and Shoot Drills Training to move laterally, backward and forward to cover while engaging threats. Speed Reload Drills Training to reload revolvers and semi-automatics in battlefield reloading fashions. Flash Sight Picture Drill Teaches engaging a threat at close range when a defender has little time to acquire a correct deliberate sight picture. Immediate-Action Drills Training to instantaneously employ immediate action drills for quickly clearing stoppages in an almost reflexive manner: failure to go into battery, failure to fire, failure to eject (stovepipe), and failure to eject. Live-fire Optional recreational live-fire at the end of the day. |
